People who've reached 110 can pretty much do whatever the fuck they want, provided they aren't breaking any laws outside of drug ones. Because you have achieved, against all possible odds, the mindset of a normal rational human being. To reiterate something said by a certain banned person : It's like "I could've raped my girlfriend, but I didn't! Keep in mind that this formula is to find creepiness, not legality.
If someone 110 wants to continue doing coke every day, I'm not going to stop it. As long as it's not illegal, it's not creepy for anyone to date anyone?
Now there may need to be a secondary function for those marrying the geriatric for inheritance purposes, but I don't think that's a factor in the 1/2 7 formula.
And I also like that the current formula does work at the bottom edge of the range where anything that is actually "dating" typically starts; basically "13 is too young, and 14-15 should keep more or less in their grade level."What's wrong with a 60 year old dating a 37 year old?
You appear to be under the impression anyonee has ever suggested it would. This fora isn't about "hey guys let's discuss this concept, oh look it's only flaw is mathematical".
It's more like "hey guys this equation attempts to approximate something observed in real life.
This blog is my labor of love, and I've spent hundreds of hours working on the projects that you'll read about here.
Generally, I write about data visualization and machine learning, and sometimes explore out-of-the-box projects at the intersection of the two. If you would like to use one of my graphs on your website or in a publication, please feel free to do so with appropriate attribution, but I would appreciate it if you email me first to let me know.
(And now we see why the last panel of the XKCD comic above applies so well to me…) Sure enough, if we overlay Rudder’s Ok Cupid data over the first chart, we see that men follow the rule almost exactly.
There are a few spots in the mid-30’s where men seem willing to dip ever so slightly past the safe zone of non-creepiness, but that trend quickly ends by their 40’s.
It seems that there’s an XKCD comic for every life situation that we run in to. One of my favorites, by far, is the comic titled “Dating pools.” This comic highlighted the Standard Creepiness Rule, a.k.a.
the “half-your-age-plus-seven” rule, which states that no person should date someone under (age / 2 7), otherwise they will look like a creeper.
After you're past the age of about 25 or 30, honestly I think you know better than some formula what is or is not a good idea. No one's getting into anything they should be unfamiliar with.
